Thai shoppers call it ตึกแดงวินเทจ — the red building. It is the answer to the question every visitor asks at two in the afternoon at Chatuchak, which is whether there is a version of this with air conditioning.

The floors

FloorWhat's there
1–2Home décor and furniture
3–4Fashion and secondhand clothing — this is why you came
5–6Food court

There is also an outdoor flea market in the forecourt during mall hours, and the Chatuchak Playground Antique Flea Market operates in the same building Friday to Sunday.

What's on 3 and 4

Stüssy, Carhartt, Dickies, Levi's, Y2K, retro sneakers, movie posters, vinyl, cameras, cowboy boots. Stall after stall of independent dealers, many of whom also stand at Chatuchak or Talad Rot Fai.

The character is different from Chatuchak. The stalls are smaller, the stock is more edited, and the dealers are more likely to know what they have. Prices are correspondingly a little higher and the hit rate is a lot better.

Hours

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 10:00–20:00
  • Friday to Sunday: 10:00–22:00
  • Closed Mondays

Money

Largely cash-only. Bring notes.

A surprising number of vendors here will also sell wholesale if you ask properly and buy properly — this is one of the few places in Bangkok where you can have a retail conversation and a trade conversation with the same person.

Getting there

MRT Kamphaeng Phet Exit 2, then about eight minutes on foot. It is directly opposite the Chatuchak site, so the natural plan is Chatuchak in the morning and Bang Sue Junction in the afternoon when the heat wins.

Worth knowing

The building also houses Chatuchak Playground, an antique flea running Friday to Sunday 09:00–22:00 — tin toys, glassware, electronics, vinyl and small furniture. If you are here on a weekend, do both.
