About
Five floors of accumulated twentieth century, stacked to the ceiling and lit badly. Papaya is less a shop than a private museum that will sell you things: American diner signage, barber chairs, chandeliers, Bakelite telephones, shop mannequins, cinema seats.
It is a standing film and photoshoot location, which is both why it is famous and why the hours are unreliable. Call before you go. Bring a torch and expect to spend two hours.
